Successful Antwerp Port Operations for MV Stellar Trader & MV Lignum Nexus

COLI Bulk Carriers (with its HQ in Hamburg) successfully handled the port agency of MV Stellar Trader and the MV Lignum Nexus, together with our colleagues from COLI Logistics in Antwerp.
These projects already mark the second and third voyages, each consisting of approximately 12,000 metric tons of Hot Rolled Steel plates, loaded in Oita, Japan and transported to Belgian clients.

Looking ahead: further batches with similar parcels are coming up later this year, underlining the continuity and strength of this trade lane!

Heavy cargo. Harsh conditions. Handled with precision

In the past two months, COLI successfully managed the transport of 10 oversized conveyor belts from Rogowiec, Poland, via the Port of Hamburg, to the Port of Valparaíso in Chile. Along the way, we had to overcome both technical and weather-related challenges.

Cargo characteristics

10 conveyor belts
Dimensions: 590 × 195 × 340 cm
Weight: ± 37 tonnes per unit

Challenges

Extremely high point loads, requiring engineered load distribution on flat racks
Reach stackers operating at the edge of their lifting capacity
Heavy snowfall, road closures (and even official stay-at-home advisories in Germany)
Truck convoy transport from Poland to Hamburg to ensure safe and controlled delivery (4 trucks in December, 6 trucks in January)

Despite the pressure, road closures and engineering challenges COLI ensured smooth execution through meticulous planning, real-time adjustments, and by using its own logistics network across Europe and South America.

This project was another reminder that complex logistics is not about avoiding challenges, but about being prepared for them.

New COLI office in Salvador, Brasil!

COLI Shipping & Transport do Brasil has been steadily growing in the past two years. To provide more efficient support to the Oil & Gas and Energy sectors in the region, we already opened several new offices in a.o. Rio the Janeiro and Itajaí. To get even closer to our clients in the Bahia region, we have set up shop in Salvador.

Matheus Lira has been appointed Branch Manager of COLI Salvador. With his experience in logistics, freight forwarding, multimodal and warehousing solutions, we welcome him to the COLI Team.

With Matheus and COLI Salvador in place, we aim for an attentive service to each client’s specific needs in the region. In addition, this enables us to closely monitor projects and increase operational agility for Project Cargo, Breakbulk, Heavy Lift, and 4PL projects.

As to our colleagues in Rio de Janeiro and Itajaí: they are currently expanding their teams, esp. because of the rise in project cargo operations, which have been an important driver of our recent growth.

Together with Coli Brasil’s headquarters in São Paulo, these local branches showcase our strong presence in the market and our ongoing commitment to expanding our capabilities across Brazil.

This milestone reflects the ingenuity and dedication of our team in delivering extraordinary logistics, exemplified in projects such as the 70-day journey of a 280-ton transformer from Betim, Brazil to a remote power plant in Antofagasta, Chile.

Whisky to Hokkaido! Discharge & delivery in full swing

After the successful ocean transport from Antwerp to Tomakomai, Japan, the next phase of our brewery equipment logistics project is now well underway.

Following discharge at the Port of Tomakomai, the first cargo units were carefully stored for two weeks to complete customs clearance. Since this week, local transports have commenced – both by day and night – ensuring the smooth onward delivery to the distillery site.

This shipment involved:

• 43 pieces of whisky distillery equipment
• 170 tonnes | 3,000 cbm of cargo
• Complex truck–barge–vessel coordination
• Night convoys and just-in-time handling

We’re proud to see this door-to-door operation unfold, and thank all partners involved for making it a success across continents and time zones.

Posting of daily bank statements for various clients

International payments – multiple currencies
Posting of all accounts receivable / payable

Shipping a dismantled crane from Antwerp, Belgium, to Manaus.

COLI Shipping & Transport do Brasil has worked in conjunction with their colleagues at COLI Logistics Antwerp on a project shipping a dismantled crane from Antwerp, Belgium, to Manaus. The project is being delivered to Brazil later this month by the MV Humbergracht, which COLI Antwerp chartered for a crane manufacturer.

The crane consisted of 19 pieces that were up to 32.50 meters long, with the largest piece weighing approximately 95 tons. In total, the shipment was 350 metric tons and 1230 cbm. It has 38.2 m outreach and 39 Mton lifting capacity, and an Electronic Machine Management remote control system.

At COLI Logistics Antwerp the team is proud to have been given the trust to handle yet another project for this repeat customer! Note that the scope included the direct transshipment from truck to outgoing vessel of the 95-tonne, 21.70-meter unit to the ship – FOB. This was not the first crane that COLI has shipped and we are looking forward to ship many more 🙂

COLI Guyana completes its first two logistics projects

COLI Shipping & Transport (Guyana) Inc., part of COLI Group, has successfully completed its first major logistics projects, marking a significant milestone for the company’s operations in the region. With Guyana’s rapidly expanding economy and growing Oil & Gas sector, COLI Guyana is positioning itself as a trusted logistics provider for project cargo, heavy-lift, and specialized transport solutions.

Terrain crane – with XPD Global

The company’s inaugural project, managed with colleagues from Coli Brasil and in partnership with XPD Global, involved the handling and receipt of a terrain crane, counterweights, and accessories from Kingston, Jamaica and arrived in Guyana last September.

This complex operation required meticulous planning. The crane measured 16.19 meters in length and weighed over 91 metric tons, totaling 218.107 CBM. A comprehensive lift point analysis ensured secure and efficient handling throughout the transportation and discharge process. Despite a vessel delay and hence the need for rapid mobilization on arrival, COLI Guyana coordinated closely and successfully with all stakeholders, ensuring a seamless execution from port arrival to final delivery at a local oil and gas service provider.

Storage Tank – with Romeu Mexico

Building on this success, COLI Guyana collaborated with Romeu Mexico in October 2024 to import a 14-meter-long storage tank, weighing 19.5 tonnes, from Veracruz, Mexico. The transport required a detailed route survey and extensive coordination with engineers and transportation teams to navigate the logistics challenges posed by the tank’s dimensions. The company’s expertise in pre-planning, real-time communication, and execution ensured the project’s smooth completion.

Successfully handling these first two projects is a proud moment for COLI Group and for me personally as well. It shows our capabilities and proves that COLI Guyana has a role to play in the region.
